Pinky's Audio Controller

After Market Stereo Installation
Make those factory head unit buttons work!

I found a setup that would work with existing factory controls. It wasnít easy, and it took almost a month of trying and testing to finally make it work correctly. This mod will work with ANY radio that has an infrared remote and a cellular phone mute lead off the radio. I have been asked this many times so it bears repeating: It will work with ANY infrared remote.

All prices are shipped any where in the continental US.

Mod is ONLY being sold in plug and play mode. It will NOT be sold separately. The cost will be $150 with you shipping me your radio's harness with the installation manual. After I'm done modifying it, I will then ship it back to you ready to be installed into the car. The cost will be $130 with the purchase of a radio from me. The mod includes the harness to plug into the car, relay, and all the required resistors and diodes. The plug must be modified and a relay is required to make the mute button work. Plus I will make sure that all the connections are secure and done properly as to not short out the radio or the mod. This is the reason why I am only selling the mod in plug-and-play mode. The time, effort, and aggravation that it will save you is tremendous. Those of you that have done this type of thing know what I'm talking about.

We can get almost any radio. If youíre planning to go larger such as amps, changers, speakers....we can ship those too. We will not be selling MP3 players (AIWA is the only one I know of) and we wonít be selling Eclipse head units. We do not have confidence in these products at this point. In my opinion Eclipse will not hold up to the firm ride of sports cars' suspension over time, and the same reason goes for Kenwood though Kenwood is a little better. We are avoiding the AIWA and the Eclipse lines because we do not wish to have you shipping the radio across the country due to shock damage from spirited driving.

I am currently working on what units will work in Europe. Though wiring the mod for that type of radio is no different and shouldn't be a problem. You just need to ship me the harness to the radio and I will work out special shipping for you.

All this is in no way impeding you from buying a radio from a local shop and just sending me the harness and the manual. If you have any problems with the radio, its only a quick stop for you down the road to your shop.

I am doing this in conjunction with a stereo shop I used to work at. Many people complained about the quality of the stock stereo. I saw the opportunity to fill in a gap that nobody has filled yet. My reason for doing this is to help out fellow S2000 owners. We can get almost anything related with the stereo equipment, if you want it just ask me. Of course I have my preferences on certain kinds of equipment, but that's just what I have learned over the years. We only carry radios that will stand up to the test of long term beatings and meet the sound quality that they demand.

Down to business! This mod works by taking the input from your dash buttons and binding them to a specific button on your remote. The mod takes the signal from your remote and learns it then outputs it via a wired eye. This eye must be placed near or in front of the radio. I put it just above the stereoís receptor. Itís the little pink thing just below the right air vent. The one you will receive is not pink: it's going to be dark blue. Remember that this mod has its limitations: It can only bind 4 buttons on your remote to 4 buttons on the dash.....Supposedly you can bind multiple buttons but I canít guarantee that.

When you receive the mod it will look simple, and it will be very simple for you to install yourself even if you're not very mechanically inclined. I will include all instructions that you will need to remove the radio and install the new one. You will need to snake the mod and relay out the side behind the radio out into the driver foot well. See picture below.

I had some problems with my install because it needed a different resistor than the tech had when he did his S2000. I have since then confirmed from 5 other people around the world that my car was the odd ball. Though I will include specific resistors to help combat that if it doesnít work as shipped. If it doesnít,  I will work with you till it works, though I donít foresee any problems.

Doing the install is quite simple, and all will be explained in the instructions but here in this picture the radioís cover off. From there it's just 4 screws to get the factory radio out. Picture below.

I will be making updates to this page as time goes on, but I am doing this to have a permanent place for people to read up on my mod. I will take into serious consideration all your input into how to improve this page.

Please if you have questions in general the Message boards have a lot of info up. Honda-Acura.net or SuperHondaOnline Just search for Pinky or dash controls. Post questions up there and ill respond though if you have specific questions on prices or topics like that email me at Pinkerstine@hotmail.com

We will be accepting money orders, checks, and I will be setting up Pay Pal up very soon. I would suggest that if you must pay by credit card that you try that out.

PayPal

A fellow S2K owner suggested it to me. I have not set it up just yet so it will be something that will be set up later if there is interest in it. We can do COD/Cashiers Check through the shipping company as a last ditch effort but I would like to try to avoid that.
